Frequently asked questions
Banner mesh is a printed signage product made from a woven polyester fabric with a semi-open weave structure. The open weave is the key feature, it lets wind pass through rather than building pressure behind the banner, which makes it the right choice for large outdoor installations on fences, scaffolding, and construction hoarding where a solid banner would catch too much load. At SS Signs, our banner mesh is printed in full colour and finished with reinforced hems and eyelets for straightforward, secure installation.
Our banner mesh is made from UV-stabilised woven polyester with a mesh weave pattern that allows approximately 30-35% airflow through the face of the banner. The material is coated to accept ink without bleed or distortion, then printed using our EFI VUTEk 5r+ superwide printer, one of the most advanced LED UV inkjet systems available. Edges are hemmed and fitted with corrosion-resistant eyelets. The result is a banner that holds its shape, resists tearing at stress points, and stays looking sharp for the duration of its install.
The most common applications are construction site hoarding and scaffolding wraps, fence signage for events and real estate, large scale brand promotions at outdoor venues, and temporary promotional banners for retail shopfronts.
The breathable mesh construction makes it the preferred choice anywhere a solid vinyl banner would be at risk of wind damage particularly for larger sizes or long term installs in exposed locations.
Bold, sans-serif fonts perform best on mesh.
The semi-open weave means fine detail can be softened slightly when viewed up close, so thin stroke typefaces (hairline or light weight fonts) should be avoided for key messaging.
Fonts like Arial Bold, Helvetica Neue Bold, Montserrat, or similar geometric sans-serifs at a generous point size hold up well across all viewing distances.
For any text intended to be read from a distance, aim for high contrast between the text colour and background. White or yellow on dark backgrounds is reliably legible. If you're unsure, our team can review your artwork before it goes to print.
Our banner mesh is available in a range of preset sizes to suit common fence and hoarding installations. Current sizes are:

Banner mesh goes by a number of different names depending on the industry and application.
You may also see it referred to as mesh banner, printed mesh, fence mesh banner, construction mesh, scaffold mesh, building wrap mesh, or hoarding mesh.
In some contexts it's called fabric mesh banner or promotional mesh. All of these terms generally refer to the same product a woven polyester substrate with an open weave designed for large-format outdoor printing. If you've been searching under any of these names and landed here, you're in the right place.
